John Vanderploeg
Baseball Instructor/ Coach
Born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin, John VanderPloeg graduated from Sheboygan Falls
High School in 2017 and attended and played at St. Cloud State University (a NCAA Division II
program in St. Cloud, Minnesota), McHenry County College (a NJCAA Division II program in
Crystal Lake, Illinois), and Campbell University (a NCAA Division I program in Buies Creek,
North Carolina). In 2019 at McHenry County College, John received the ISCC Pitcher of the
Year award as well as the NJCAA Division II Region IV All Region Team. Playing against Prairie
State, he threw a perfect game while striking out 14 batters. In 2021, while playing for the
Fighting Camels at Campbell University, the team won the Big South Conference, advancing to
the NCAA Regional finals against the eventual College World Series champions, Mississippi
State. Upon receiving his Bachelors of Science in Educational Studies with a focus in Special
Education, John married his college sweetheart and moved to Florida. John has a love for
baseball and teaching and is extremely excited to combine these passions as he transitions into
coaching. John’s areas of pitching expertise include: velocity training, pitch development, body
recovery, arm-path “clean up”, and shoulder-hip separation.
